Error, consistency and triviality

چکیده
In this paper, we present a new semantic challenge to the moral error theory. Its first component calls upon theorists deliver deontic semantics that is consistent with error-theoretic denial of truths by returning truth-value false all sentences. We call ‘consistency challenge’ second demands explain in which way assertions can be seen differ meaning despite necessarily sharing same intension. ‘triviality Error either meet consistency or triviality challenge, argue, but are hard pressed both.

Error Detection through Consistency Checking
Following a brief discussion on various aspects of data quality, possible methods are examined for the detection of errors in a spatial database. Using examples, we introduce the consistency checking method based on spatial relationships among neighboring objects and attribute relationships among map layers from different sources. Using logical relationships among spatial neighborhoods and amon...
متن کاملSchnorr triviality and genericity
We study the connection between Schnorr triviality and genericity. We show that while no 2-generic is Turing equivalent to a Schnorr trivial and no 1-generic is tt-equivalent to a Schnorr trivial, there is a 1-generic that is Turing equivalent to a Schnorr trivial. However, every such 1-generic must be high. As a corollary, we prove that not all K-trivials are Schnorr trivial. We also use these...
متن کاملTriviality Pursuit
The thesis that probabilities of conditionals are conditional probabilities has putatively been refuted many times by so-called ‘triviality results’, although it has also enjoyed a number of resurrections. In this paper I assault it yet again with a new such result. I begin by motivating the thesis and discussing some of the philosophical ramifications of its fluctuating fortunes. I will canvas...
متن کاملProbability, Modality and Triviality
Many philosophers accept the following three theses: (1) that probability is amodal concept; (2) that, if determinism is true, therewould still be objective modal facts; and (3) that if determinism is true, there are no genuine objective probabilities (chances). I argue that these 3 claims are inconsistent, and that their widespread acceptance is thus quite troubling. I suggest, as others have,...
متن کاملModelling Error Propagation for Spatial Consistency
Currently, there are numerous effective models for managing error propagation in data manipulation and analysis. But the method is still lack in handling spatial consistency. This paper focuses on the algorithms and models of error propagation for spatial consistency, investigating the basic types of spatial data inconsistency and the procedures for correcting them. Since the correction operati...
